Knowing about Browser Profile will help understand why it is necessary. It is a user account in the browser itself that helps the users to synchronize various listings whenever they sign-in with that account. Synchronization includes the browsing history, login credentials, bookmarks, add-ins, preferences and, browser settings. These necessities are the primary requirements from the browsers for any user, though it depends on the browser you use. A default user account gets created when any browser is installed, but this user account has no name and doesn’t synchronize anything. Everything gets deleted when the browser is uninstalled.

The second necessity of Browser Profile is to run multiple instances of the same browser. I will ask a question here. Have you ever needed to run multiple user profiles in your favorite browsers? I’m sure most internet users need to have multiple user profiles while working or surfing online. However, due to work restrictions or personal privacy, they don’t use the same browser profile for every activity.

Creating Multiple User Profiles in Firefox

Firefox browser has a built-in feature Profile Manager that lets the user customize the browser profiles. If you are a Windows OS user, then it will be much easier than the Linux OS user. First thing first, there is no direct method, I mean there are no multiple user profile options in Firefox’s Account Settings like Google Chrome browser which has multiple user profiles account options in Account Settings.

Following are the ways to create multiple user profiles in Firefox from the Profile Manager:

1. Using Browser Tab

  • Simply type “about:profiles” command in your Firefox browser tab and hit enter. A page will appear having all the profiles along with the default one chosen by the system during installation.
